My order

How do I know which size to order?

Open tab

Follow the steps below to accurately determine your size for necklaces, bracelets & nose rings:

NECKLACES: When ordering a necklace you can refer to our necklace length chart or measure a necklace you already own.  Our necklace and bracelet measurements are from end to end and include the clasp.

BRACELETS: To measure your wrist for bracelet sizing follow these steps:

Step 1: Measure your wrist below the wrist bone (where you would normally wear your bracelet) using a flexible measuring tape or a strip of paper.

Step 2: If using a plain strip of paper, mark your strip with a pen where the end of the bracelet needs to be. Then measure the paper strip with a ruler. This is your wrist size.

Step 3: To find your bracelet size, increase the wrist measurement by the increment below, based on how you want the bracelet to fit.

For:

a snug fit, add 1/4" to 1/2"

a comfort fit, add 3/4" to 1"

a loose fit, add 1-1/4"

NOSE RINGS: Cut a small strip of paper and line up the top edge with your piercing then mark where the edge of your nostril is on the bottom of the paper. Take that piece of paper with your measurement and hold it against a ruler. This measurement is the smallest inner diameter of the ring that you can wear comfortably. If you prefer a looser fit, add 1mm to your measurement.

What is "Gold Fill”?

Open tab

Gold-fill is a reasonably priced, quality alternative to solid gold. The core metal is jeweler’s brass and the gold alloy is then bonded to one or both surfaces of the brass core with heat and pressure. Gold-fill is legally required to contain 5% or 1/20 gold by weight. This 5% is then described by the karat mark of the gold alloy. Most gold-fill is 12kt or 14kt gold-fill. It is most accurately labeled  this way, "12/20" for 12kt and "14/20" for 14kt and identified as 14/20 Gold-fill or 12/20 Gold-Fill. At Studio Blue we use 14/20 Gold Fill exclusively.

What is 14 karat gold?

Open tab

14-karat gold is made by mixing pure gold with copper, zinc, etc. These non-gold metals are added to make the alloy more durable than pure gold, which is very soft. 14 karat gold doesn’t tarnish or discolor and is the perfect choice for everyday wear. See care instructions.

What is Sterling Silver?

Open tab

Sterling Silver is an alloy created when copper is added to pure silver in order to make the resulting compound more durable and less soft. Usually, sterling silver has a purity of 92.5%, meaning that 7.5% of the alloy is made of copper. Sterling silver is prone to tarnishing but is easy to clean. See care instructions.

What is "Vermeil"?

Open tab

Gold vermeil, or Rose Gold vermeil, refers to items made of Sterling Silver that are plated with a layer of gold. To be considered vermeil, an item must be coated with gold that is at least 10 karats or higher while the thickness of the gold layer must be at least 2.5 microns.  A vermeil piece doesn't generally carry a stamp indicating it's layered with gold but you will often see the .925 marking on a vermeil piece indicating that its core is 92.5% silver. See care instructions.

What is Surgical Steel and Plated Surgical Steel?

Open tab

316L Surgical steel is considered hypoallergenic and won’t corrode or rust. All of our plated 316L Surgical steel pieces are plated directly with genuine gold. See care instructions.

What is Titanium?

Open tab

Titanium is a very strong and lightweight metal. It is the one metal that is not affected by chlorine and can be safely worn while swimming or bathing. Because titanium is biocompatible, meaning it’s non-toxic and not rejected by the body, it’s an excellent choice for people with nickel allergies. See care instructions.

What is Cubic Zirconia or “CZ”?

Open tab

Cubic Zirconia or “CZ” is an inexpensive diamond alternative with many of the same qualities as a diamond. CZ is synthetic, which means it's created in a laboratory. Most cubic zirconia pieces will last a lifetime with the proper care.  See care instructions.

What are Freshwater pearls?

Open tab

First, it is important to remember that freshwater pearls are organic. These pearls are grown in freshwater lakes, rivers, and ponds, predominately in China. Although many are white, they can also be produced in various shapes and in an array of pastel colors. They are created when a bead or tissue is inserted into a freshwater mussel which sees this bead as a foreign object, and proceeds to coat it with nacre. This nacre is the patina that gives the pearl its beautiful luster.  See care instructions.

What is a Simulated or Synthetic Opal?

Open tab

Simulated/Synthetic opals are man-made opals that have the same chemical composition, internal structure, physical properties, and appearance as natural opals. They are often called lab-created opals, lab-grown opals, or cultured opals to indicate their man-made origin. See care instructions.
